selling silver flatwareSilver is so shiny. I once stole a silver spoon from my roommate because I had a suspicion he charged me unfairly on the air conditioning bill -- he averred that he kept his air conditioner to low all the time and that since I kept mine on high I should pay more. I'm over it now that I got that silver spoon. I was planning on selling silver flatware once silver hits a new high, which should be any day now.

Gold keeps rising yet silver has remained relatively stable despite the crash of the market over the past couple of weeks. I have a bad feeling about the stock market. I think it's going to crash another thousand points or so over the next month. That's when I'll sell all my silver, when it's at its peak.

Patience is important when it comes to making money. The smartest and most patient people know when the time is right to strike, to buy and sell silver. I model myself after them. Selling silver is a good way to make some quick extra cash. I enjoy surrounding myself with those shiny bars, that will soon become piles of cash.

[slug] => is-there-a-gold-bubble [content] =>

With a few weeks of almost unprecedented growth in the price of gold throughout the global gold market, it is not surprising that some analysts are starting to see this growth as a gold bubble. In our post recession global economy it is very hard to see any consistent and large growth in a commodities market as anything but a bubble waiting to burst and lose profit any moment now.

Some analysts have started touting oil as the new gold noting that oil tends to ignore the fundamental realities of global economies. Word is that investing in oil continues to be far safer than putting one's money in the currently topsy-turvy stock market or in the post debt ceiling questionable United States Treasury. Of course looking for a safe house is one thing. Looking for a way to quickly generate some cash is another. If that is what you are hoping to do the gold market still seems like a safe bet.

If you are hoping to turn over some gold into cash now is still a great time to visit a NYC gold refiner and make the switch. We don't know if and when a bubble will actually pop but at the moment it remains the best time ever to trade in some gold at NYC gold refineries.

When you intend to sell gold in NYC you really should know the purity of the gold. It seems like a recurring gag in cartoons that you can test the purity of a metal by biting into it. However, the process is much more complex than that. Gold purity is determined by three major factors: percentage, fineness, and karats. The three combined will help determine the inherent purity.

The percentage of gold refers to the percent of the item that is made of gold. You will notice with jewelry and other accoutrements that other metals may have been added for the sake of adjusting the color, flexibility, and durability. White gold for example is an alloy of gold with at least one white metal. Common pairings are nickel, manganese, or palladium. For colored gold, such a rose gold, copper is added to the mix. Its shade: red, rose, or pink depends on the percentage of copper added. Green gold uses silver. The higher the percentage of the gold the more pure it is.

The corresponding characteristics are fineness and karats. Millesimal fineness (also known as hallmarks) and karats  are systems to  denote gold based on purity in an alloy. They're number systems derived for listing gold on the market. The conversion is somewhat confusing but just remember that approximately 50% gold is 500, 75% gold is 750, and 100% is around 999 or higher. In karats it's 12K, 18K, and 24K.

You can test for purity using a kit with a bottle of solution and a touchstone or you can save yourself the trouble and go to NYC gold buyers for a professional opinion.

How can you make a surprise party more interesting? I mean, sure it's great to invite a bunch of people over, sit in a dark room, and jump out at them yelling "Happy Birthday!". It can also be heart attack inducing. But it does get a little tired after a while, unless the party itself has some kind of cool theme. But what if the theme of the party was a gold party?

Hosting a gold party is a great idea, hosting a surprise party is a great idea, and when you combine the two, it's even better. If your friend has been meaning to sell his or her gold jewelry and other pieces lately but hasn't gotten around it it, now's the time to set it up for them. Or maybe they never thought about it, but you figure they could use the extra cash. It's a lot of fun to host a gold party and  get money right there on the spot. Of course, this doesn't mean you can be cheap and not buy them a present! But it is a nice way to get all the guests involved and have them all walk away with a little something extra!

Although people do many transactions and activities online, some might have some reservations about selling diamonds through a website/mail. And honestly, that's completely understandable. At Diamond Buyers of America, we understand why you might be a little wary, despite the fact that we pride ourselves in our excellent reputation. If you prefer to sell diamonds in person, no problem!

But because we're so awesome, we don't just have one location, we have two! The first is in Manhattan, in the Diamond District of course. (Honestly, where else were you expecting?) It's easy to get to by subway and it is located on 47th Street, between 5th and 6th Ave. But if for whatever reason you can't make it to our Manhattan location, you can stop by our shop in Brooklyn which is on 3rd Ave. in the Bay Ridge area. Both are just a short walk from nearby subways and we always love a walk-in.

You can meet with our expert jewelers who are more than happy to discuss pricing for your diamond jewelry. Gather up your old pendants, rings, earrings, and whatever else you own and be prepared for a nice handful of cash coming your way.

sell silver jewelryThe markets are very volatile these days. The Dow Jones was up and down around 4% a few days this week, which means that now is not the time to invest in risky assets. The price of gold went over $1700 for the first time ever. The best thing to do is start hoarding cash and paying off debt, which is what big companies and many individuals are doing in a process called deleveraging.

A good way to gather extra cash is by selling silver. You may have silver and not even realize it in the form of silver jewelry and silver flatware, and it may be sitting there collecting dust. The price of silver per ounce is hovering around $40, which means that if you want to sell silver jewelry or a couple of spoons in your drawer you could have next week's groceries paid for.

Unfortunately, all signs point to another recession, which means hard times ahead. Monetary policy won't be able to help either, this time. But since most people have already learned a few lessons from the downfall of a few years ago, and have begun reorganizing their financial statements, perhaps the fall won't be as hard or as deep. Whatever happens, selling silver is just another way you can protect yourself.
